Thanks ahfatpanda for your reply....

Yeah I read on another RCZ UK forum....some RCZ owners also experienced this and one or 2 of them actually said it sometimes happens when you on/start the car too fast....

Someone said he now turns on the car (electronics only ie half turn the key)...then wait a split second then start the engine (full turn of key)....and it never happens again....

You experienced this on your RCZ also?

Thanks!

Hey fellow GTI owners...

Quick question...do you guys notice a soft high-pitched like whistling sound when you are in 5th or 6th gear...at about 3000rpm (approx 100kmh)?

I brought this up during my 2500km servicing at AF and they didnt seem to make a big deal out of it....

How are your rides so far? Been happy with mine...just wondering abt the slight sound...

Thanks!

Hi, how is the glass costing better than the normal cs2? Am thinking of doing either one , but the pricing tend to favor the normal cs2! Very Happy

Yes, it came with my GTi too but I driven other pugs too, almost all prince engine model come with the whistling sound, but strange thing is it does not happen every now and then..

So far the car is good, simply loving it, really, no regret at all!

Currently clocked 3200km, done first service last week and FC clocked at average 12.5km/l with 40/60 highway driving.

I had a slight whistling sound too in most gears when accelerating from 2500rpm to 3500rpm slowly... the whistling sound disappeared after i replaced all my boost piping (between turbo, intercooler and engine) to stainless steel... So I'm guessing the sound had something to do with the stock tubes?

Also, I'm interested in difference between CS2 normal and Glass system too!
I used Glare before this, but doesn't seem to work as well as hoped for after a few months... Thinking of trying something else...

What is boost piping? For performance or just enhance from existing stock piping? How much? I am keen to do it too without anymore whistling sound~ Smile

Boost piping.. Stainless Steel pipes for hot and cold side.. This is engine for RCZ THP200, but it applies to the 308GTi anyway...

Did it at Fong Kim.. haha.. Costed me $800 thou... cos had a lot of hiccups along the way... but it's all ironed out now, so if you go there and do it, it had better be cheaper!

Sound: Less of the whistling sound. More Turbo Spool sound and noisier outside overall. Mostly engine revving noises.. For the THP200 engines, this gets rid of the noisemaker and the turbo muffler in-between the turbo and intercooler..

Performance: Slightly more turbo lag, about 200 to 300rpm more.. but turbo kick-in much more obvious(maybe due to lack of expandable rubber piping). Holds more boost at higher RPMs.. When I floored it the first time, I got a Drivetrain CEL because boost went up by 1PSI more than stock.. from 15.4PSI max to 16.5PSI max boost... Cleared that CEL once and all was fine after that...

Thanks for the reply! I've clocked abt 3800km....drove up to KL and managed to get about 13km/L FC....could have been better though cos the NS-highway had quite a few jams coming up so not all smooth driving....

Here is a screenshot that i took from mycarforum....compares regular CSII vs Glass Coat...basically Glass Coat is harder and more protection....but the price difference is also quite alot! Price list: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I did the regular CSII for my ride and I'm super happy with it car still super shiny after 1 mth plus...but i do wash it at least once a week... I must say that the service at the Ubi branch is excellent. What struck me most is their attitude....they really make sure your car is top-notch super swee!

Oh...and mycarforum members get 20% discount....so go join the forum if you decide to do CSII....

Thanks for the descriptions of all the different CS2 coatings! makes choosing between the two much easier now... heh..
Also, ya this voids warranty on the entire intake system unfortunately..... but from the intake manifold onwards, warranty should still hold..

Take these warranty stuff with a pinch of salt.

In most cases, the agent will wriggle their way out unless it is point blank. Many items they will say wear and tear parts, so no free replacement.

F I N A L L Y ! ! !

Picked up my GTi yesterday. Awe-summm! Do honk if we pass by each other. I'm the one styln' the big-ass Peugeot-Lion decal down my sides. Kinda hard to miss.

I'll collect the club decal soon... sorry for the delay.

One thing: can't stick my IU after my tinting-job... any clues to where to do a DIY fix if I don't wanna go back to the tint-shop?

PS: I do get the whistling sound too.

Hi Obicat....

I came across your post on the RCZ UK forum....the one about your DIY air induction system with openpod....wha respect! Did you ever end up doing a scoop for your RCZ?

Anyway....I'm also interested in modding my air intake cos the stock one is made of these cheap plastic parts and looks super inefficient...

Just out of curiosity (sorry I'm not an expert by any means)....how come you didn't opt for putting the open-pod where the cheapo plastic used to be at the front of the car....like here:
