Guess the filter is to prevent injector from choking by ensuring very clean fuel passes because the holes are extremely small and fuel pressure is extremely high.

Any side effect if the filter is removed?

If long term using MY Diesel, any issue?

Long term on Malaysian diesel should not be recommended. Since the other manufacturers are against it, can't be Peugeot alone can do it where the Germans can't. Moreover, this diesel engine could be sourced from another manufacturer (like Ford group).

Peugeot apparently removed the diesel particle filter to allow the lower MY diesel to be used.  The rest of the brand has this filter and if MY diesel is used frequently, this filter will get choke and changing it is expensive.

Diesel consumption is very superior comapred to petrol especially for Euro5 & 6 engines.  However, the drawbacks will be the subsequent diesel injector calibration. It is a very specialise job when calibartion machines are expensive.

That is certainly one effective indirect way of accelerating the retirement of a diesel Pug to keep their sales volume moving.  Laughing

Anyway, i will try not to pump MY diesel as far as possible until 2015, where they (MY) will comply to Euro 4 diesel.
