I've had one since March 2008 and still loving it (eventhough signs of wear and tear are starting to show) Smile

Yes I was once interested in the 107, you can refer to 1 series section.

BTW, I am keen to know more about the gearbox. Is it a Auto or those sequential gear shift type?

It has both. There is an "Easy" mode which is automatic. You can switch it to manual mode, where you can shift gears up and down.

It's the only car of its class to have the tip-tronic, 2 tronic , step-tronic system. IMO, though, it's not necessary. You don't save fuel driving in manual ( i tried for a month), and unless you overtake a lot, you rarely need to downshift for that extra boost. At least on Singapore roads.

Is it a 4 speed transmission? or 5 speed?

Toyota engines are known to be torquey amongst the Japanese.

It's 5 speed.

Yeah I think the 107 engine won some award for being the best 3 cylinder engine.

I like the design a lot but it's apparently not very reliable.

I read of another case where the auto-door opened while the car was in motion.

Parts can be quite expensive.

Only a few workshops have experience working with it.

I think no surprises when it comes to daily use. Quite reliable. It's just that when things need replacing, can be quite expensive.

But then many cars are also like that.

Okie, buying a second 09 model of 107. Should be able to collect less than 2weeks ...

Cool!

Is that the one with the chrome bumper?

I think you'll enjoy the 107 very much. Especially when you go to the petrol station, and when your road tax renewal notice comes Smile

That's quite normal. Of course, if it vibrates very badly then something might be wrong. But in general, the 107 is an entry-level car, so can't expect that much in terms of "smoothness". The engine, as you probably know, is quite loud and may sound rough. But you'll get used to it. It's a good engine. The engine's actually designed and manufacturered by Toyota, and it won some award for top 3-cylinder engine a while ago.

If you dealer says he'll change the mount, ask him to show you the old mount. It's actually quite a big project if you think about it, and I won't be surprised if the dealer may not actually do it.

This I'm not sure. Ive kept my rims stock. Your tyre dealer should be able to advise you. There are actually many rims that can be installed on the 107, but got disadvantages.

Hi Bro,
If you have not committed to this car, choose another unit.

From my experience, a dented rim is just what we see on the surface. I would asked myself, what was the accident or event that caused the dent? Was the under-carriage damaged too?

Next thing I have in mind is : Did the previous owner take care of the car or rough user?

The damaged wheels could be causing the vibration while you were testing the car. It could have been hit harshly against curbs earlier, the wheels bent in the process and you have vibrating ride. Good to have the dealer to change the mountings(engine mountings?), the engine's more important, while the common wheel pcd of the 107 (4 x 100) avails to you a good variety of aftermarket wheels for a spiffy appeal. Smile
